In commemoration of Veterans Day, the National WWI Museum and Memorial serves as a fitting place to honor those who have served — and continue to serve — our country. To recognize these men and women, admission to the Museum and Memorial is free for veterans and active duty military personnel from Friday, Nov. 8 through Monday, Nov. 11. General admission for the public is half-price.

National WWI Museum and Memorial exhibition War Toys: Ukraine, will run from Oct. 2, 2024 through Jan. 5, 2025. The exhibition is hosted in tandem with Featured Exhibition The Little War, which explores the lives of children swept up by WWI.

The National WWI Museum and Memorial announced its newest exhibition, Sacred Service. Open on Thursday, May 23, 2024, Sacred Service highlights the chaplains from many faiths and fighting nations in WWI whose service provided friendship, compassion and spiritual guidance.

The National WWI Museum and Memorial serves as a fitting place to spend Memorial Day weekend, giving honor and special recognition to the individuals who sacrificed their lives while serving their country. Admission to the Museum and Memorial is free for veterans and active-duty military personnel, while general admission for the public is half-price all weekend (Friday-Monday, May 24-27).

The National WWI Museum and Memorial announced two Main Gallery exhibit areas that will open to the public on Tuesday, May 7. “Epilogue: A World Transformed” and “Into the Trenches” will reopen to feature new technology and stories showcasing the enduring impact of WWI. These renovations tell new and interesting narratives from WWI and create a richer and more immersive visitor experience.

In conjunction with events occurring downtown on Wednesday, Feb. 14 to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII win, the National WWI Museum and Memorial will be open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is offering a special discount admission rate of $10.

The latest exhibition at the National WWI Museum and Memorial, The Little War, opens Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 in Exhibit Hall. When war breaks out, it’s not just the adults who are impacted. What does war look like to a child? The Little War explores the lives of children swept up by the storms of World War I while adults were fighting on the front line and supporting the war effort.

The National WWI Museum and Memorial announced four major upgrades to the Main Gallery that will open to the public on Tuesday, Nov. 7. “Prologue: Grand Illusions,” “Interactive Touch Tables,” “America Mobilizes” and “Move 'Em Out and Bon Voyage” will reopen to feature new technology and stories showcasing the enduring impact of WWI.

Charmed Soldiers, the new online exhibition from the National WWI Museum and Memorial features a collection of 22 small, personal belongings that helped fighting forces and war workers hold on to hope, whether in the muddy trenches of the Western Front, on the waves of the South China Sea or flying high above the clouds.

The Lower Level of the National WWI Museum and Memorial will reopen to the public on Friday, May 19. Following a year of renovations, the Lower Level features the new Bergman Family Gallery and Open Storage Center. This is the most extensive renovation to the Museum and Memorial since its opening in 2006.

Entertaining the Troops gives a peek into the life of a WWI soldier beyond the battlefield, whether waiting for the enemies’ next move or partying in Paris. Opening on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, Entertaining the Troops will be on display in the National WWI Museum and Memorial’s Exhibit Hall.

In conjunction with events occurring downtown on Wednesday, Feb. 15 to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVII win, the National WWI Museum and Memorial will be open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is offering a special discount admission rate of $10 and parking for $35. Special access will be granted for members of the media.

"Fighting with Faith: a WWI POW Camp of Propaganda" investigates the Halbmondlager, or "Half Moon Camp," with a close look at the ways in which Germany and the Ottoman Empire fought for the hearts and minds of prisoners. Fighting with Faith complements the onsite exhibition Captured, which is open through April 30, 2023 in the Museum and Memorial’s Wylie Gallery.
