Soldiers fighting in World War I weren’t afforded many luxuries, but chocolate and whiskey were among them.
Join acclaimed chocolatiers René Bollier and Christopher Elbow and whiskey expert Ryan Maybee for an evening of chocolate and whiskey tastings as well as a brief history on the role of luxury goods during World War I at Operation: Indulgence at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12.
Bollier (André's Confiserie Suisse), Elbow (Christopher Elbow Artisan Chocolates) and Maybee (J. Rieger & Co. Whiskey/Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange) will participate in a panel discussion as well as provide free samples of their chocolate and whiskey. Additional light appetizers and cocktails (cash bar) will be available.
The event begins at 6 p.m. with mingling and tastings followed by the panel discussion in the Auditorium.
Operation: Indulgence is presented by The Pitch with funding provided by the Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund of Kansas City, Mo., and The Volunteers Fund with additional support provided by Central States Beverage, Glazers, Praire Creek Beverages, Beam Suntory’s World Whiskey Specialist and Kansas City’s own Joe Terranova.
