Terri Lewis: “When They Came Home”

Friday, Sept. 25, 2026 | 7 p.m. Rainy Day Books

Based on the true story of author Terri Lewis’s grandparents Milton and Edith, her newest book “When They Came Home” is a haunting portrait of a marriage tested by World War I’s lingering effects, and an example of how even the deepest traumas can be met by the patient powers of love. Lewis has always called it ‘The Candy Box Novel’ because it began when her mother handed her a battered box that contained a pile of papers and some black-and-white photos.

Join Lewis for a lecture and the opportunity to sign and personalize your copy of “When They Came Home.” Hosted in support of Rainy Day Books.
