Overshadowed by his mythic persona, T. E. Lawrence’s most arduous journey was not in pursuit of post-war peace, but rather in his lifelong quest to find his sense of self. Dissecting Lawrence’s letters and memoirs, Dr. Barbara Cooke from Loughborough University will examine Lawrence’s struggle to grapple with the anxieties produced by his fame, and his efforts to forge an identity in which he found peace.
Hosted in partnership with the T. E. Lawrence Society, and in conjunction with the Lawrence of Arabia Lecture Series.
