Created in the aftermath of World War I, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the only country named after its ruling family. Abd al-Aziz ibn Saud used British aid during the war to gain control of his homeland and increase his influence over the entire Arabian Peninsula. Dr. Brian Steed examines the House of Al Saud's rise to power and how it continues to leverage the nation as a major global economic and political force today.
