The Amazing History of Tin Pan Alley's Biggest Song Hits of the Great War
Wednesday, June 7 - 6:30 p.m. Auditorium Lobby

Update: Due to technical limitations, this event will no longer be streamed live. It will be recorded and posted later in the week for those who cannot attend in person.

In the wartime era, composers found themselves obliged to navigate the traditional imperative to entertain and yet reveal the realities of the unfolding drama on the world stage, all while following strict governmental dictates to present the war in a positive light. Join pianist and historian Frederick Hodges for a toe-tapping musical revue of the biggest song hits written by America's top composers during WWI, uncovering the untold, sometimes amusing and frequently shocking history behind the creation and reception of these songs.
