Saturday, July 15 - 10:30 a.m. Classroom and Zoom Conference

Update: Bouquet workshop has been postponed.

Come do your bit – knit! Just as in WWI, knitting is a way to share comfort and bring a community of friends together to talk, laugh and create. Whether just starting out or an expert able to share your knowledge, join us. BYONY (bring your own needles and yarn). Your own projects are welcome!

Long treasured for their color and fragrance, flowers continue to be a popular centerpiece or garden accent. In the centuries leading up to the Great War, they were more than an aesthetic: they were a message. With horticulture as integral as architecture in the design of military cemeteries, the symbolic legacy and commemorative importance of flowers endures today. Learn more with the historians and horticulturalists from Arlington National Cemetery, the American Battle Monuments Commission and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, in a compelling conversation on the flora of WWI military cemeteries worldwide.

Please note that speakers will be Zooming in from their offices across the globe. The conversation will be projected on screen at the Museum and Memorial for those who would like to attend in person.
