Lawrence Lecture Series: T. E. Lawrence and the Red Sea Patrol (Nov. 2024)

Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024 - 2 p.m. Central Zoom Conference

Despite its integral role in the success of the 1916 Arab Revolt, the British Royal Navy’s Red Sea Patrol is seldom mentioned in scholarship on T. E. Lawrence. Evidence demonstrates that without the work of those ships, the revolt would have failed and Lawrence would have remained an obscure officer in the military bureaucracy of Cairo.

Delve into the significance of this campaign with maritime historian and former Merchant Navy officer John Johnson-Allen, author of “T.E. Lawrence and the Red Sea Patrol: The Royal Navy’s Role in Creating the Legend.”

Hosted in partnership with the T. E. Lawrence Society.
