A longstanding mission of the United Nations, international peacekeeping – pioneered by the League of Nations – is at a crossroads. Through legitimacy, burden-sharing and an ability to deploy peacekeeping troops (the Blue Helmets) and police worldwide, the U.N. has helped countries navigate the difficult path from conflict to peace. International military officers and a representative from the U.N.’s Office of Military Affairs (Department of Peace Operations) will share their experiences as peacekeepers and discuss its future at a time of escalating global tensions and limited resources.
Hosted in partnership with the United Nations Association of Greater Kansas City.
